After her studies in business administration at Saarland University, Ilka Horstmeier began her career at the BMW Group in Munich as a trainee in 1995. A year later, she was hired as a personnel and organizational development consultant at the BMW plant in Munich. From 1997 to 1998, Horstmeier was the manager of the project office for body construction work structures at the BMW plant in Munich. She was then appointed as manager of car body control and launch security. She served as the director of Strategic Development, Production Concepts, at the BMW Group’s Munich Research and Development Centre from 2001 to 2004.
Horstmeier then took over the management of production and shipment control as well as plant development at BMW’s Dingolfing plant. Two years later, she was named director of Logistics, IT, at the Wackersdorf Innovation Park at the BMW plant in Regensburg. From 2008 to 2009, she was director, Production Control, Controlling, Buildings and Energy, “Value Creation-oriented Production System,” at BMW in Regensburg. In 2010, she returned to Munich in the role of director, Engine Production. Since 2013, Horstmeier has been divisional director, Engine Production and Electrical Powertrain Systems, at the BMW Group in Munich.
