Dr. Holger Heyn, born in 1965, studied mechanical engineering at TU Braunschweig and earned his doctorate in 1995 with a dissertation entitled “Process Monitoring for Material Processing with CO2 Lasers.” From 1995 to 1997, he worked at a manufacturer of CO2 lasers on customer projects. In 1997, he moved to Volkswagen AG, where he first worked in vehicle prototyping and later in strategic project management for vehicle electronics. In 2005, he became manager of the “Technology Management” department, in the group’s production business unit. In late 2013, parallel to these activities, he began establishing a new unit, “Technology Development Robots,” with a focus on human-robot cooperation. Since June 2016, he has led the “Future Technologies Production” unit with an emphasis on digitalization, robotics and innovative production technologies.
